Replacing or removing the antivirus, firewall. Chkdsk, SFC, memtest, both before and after hardware changes. Here's a list of things I've done, to no results:Ģ. The only hardware that remains from a year ago is the motherboard, PSU, and two of the sticks of RAM. This problem has been occurring for over a year, and in that time I've replaced most of the parts and software. I haven't been able to reproduce the freezing or hanging in any predictable way. After several minutes (~5) the computer will recover. After around a minute, the entire computer will come to a lock, with audio buzzing or occasionally coming out as in slow motion. In the case of the hanging, first one program will stall and I'll lose internet connectivity, and if I hold down keys on the keyboard I get no results. There is no blue screen, no does it ever recover if left for a long time. In the case of the freezing, the entire computer simply comes to an abrupt halt. Usually it happens while downloading something or simply browsing the internet, but it's also been known to happen while simply idling or starting up - indeed, even when the internet is completely disabled.
My computer (Windows 7 64 bit) has randomly freezing or temporarily hanging for over a year now.
